How insufficient fund undermines our operation in Kwara - NOA

Date: 2016-02-12

The Kwara State Directorate of National Orientation Agency has decried inadequate funding confronting the operations of the agency in the state.

It said insufficient allocation had continued to hinder the effectiveness of the agency in sensitizing and educating members of the public on issues of the moment.

The state Director of NOA, Mr Felix Olowookere, stated this in Ilorin yesterday while speaking at a one day enlightenment programme on Lassa fever, zika fever virus and electricity consumers' rights and obligations.

He said the agency would have initiated various public fora on issues affecting the society in the bid to proffer practical solutions to them. Olowookere, who disclosed that the event was at the instance of the headquarters of the agency in Abuja, urged Kwarans to be properly guided on their rights on electricity consumption.

He said it was an inalienable right of the citizens to know about electricity tariff they consumed to forestall avoidable crisis.

The NOA director, however called on officers of the agency in the local government areas to propagate resolutions at the forum to the people at the grass roots with a view to acquainting them with their rights. He stated that the agency would not relent in enlightening the public on what they should know about issues affecting them.

Some of the participants at the forum expressed displeasure over poor electricity supply and asked the power company to address the anomaly.
