Husband abandons mother of twins in hospital
A private hospital in Ilorin, Kwara State, has detained a mother of a set of twins for over a month for non-payment of hospital bill after delivery.
The 25-year-old hairdresser, Mrs Falilat Abdulkareem, has, therefore, called on well meaning Nigerians to come to her assistance in the payment of the hospital bills of her new born twins.
Mrs Falilat Abdulkareem is being held at Temitope Hospital, Sabo Line Isale, Ilorin, Kwara State, for her inability to pay the N150, 000 hospital bill after the chief medical officer of the hospital took the delivery of her babies through surgery operation.
It was gathered that the hospital management embarked on the treatment without collecting any deposit payment from her due to the critical condition she was said to have been brought into the hospital.
"We went to four different hospitals and they were rejecting me because of money despite my critical condition, before someone later described Temitope Hospital to us, and immediately we arrived at the Hospital and they saw my condition, the Chief Medical Doctor, Dr Shittu, quickly directed his staff to attend to me and take me to the delivery room", she said.
The mother of the twins said that her husband, Mr Saheed Afolabi, who is a welder by trade, and an indigene of Iwo town in Osun State, had abandoned her ever before the delivery period.
She cited misunderstanding she had with her mother-in-law, saying that when she called her phone number that she was in the hospital for maternity delivery, he did not show any care for her not to talk of taking responsibility of the hospital bills.
She also said that Saheed had been on the run ever since.
The abandoned mother also made it known that her mother had to go around town to beg for money, adding that they had been spending the proceeds to survive at the hospital and feeding the babies.
"And all that she is getting is not even enough for feeding. I would appreciate whatever amount you donate to help my condition and save the newborn. So, to donate, you can visit the Hospital at Sabo Line Isale , Ilorin or contact me on 08143196764. Or pay into Temitope Hospital GTBank 0034889618.
