The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed to lift the suspension on the chairmen of five local government councils. The chairmen were suspended over allegation of unauthorised recruitment of staff without due process.

This resolution followed the adoption of the recommendations of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on the suspension of the council chairmen.

Reading the resolutions of the House, the speaker, Dr. Ali Ahmad, said there was the need to lift the suspension because the affected chairmen, Alhaji Usman Adisa Ebedi, Ilorin South, Akintoba Fatigun Ekiti, Saka Obalana Asa, Hajiya Folake Yusuf, Oke-Ero and Mohammed Usman Kpada, Patigi had reversed the controversial and illegal replacement of staff in their local government councils.

The House, however, exonerated the chairmen of Irepodun, Baruteen and Moro councils, Lukman Omolewa, Alhaji M.B Omar, Alhaji M.B Omar and Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Ajibola from any wrong doing, saying they were not given fair hearing in the report of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, which earlier indicted them.
