Gov Ahmed Approves N3.2b for On-Going Projects

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the release of N3.2b for the completion of outstanding capital projects in the Education, Energy, Health, Roads, Works and Justice sectors in the state.

A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, quoted Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed as saying that the funds were released after the recent verification of the state's outstanding capital projects, and was based on authenticated and duly certified stage of completion of works on each project.

Alhaji Ahmed further noted that the release of funds will ensure that timely completion of work on the various sites without delay. He said that the N3.2 billion is part of the N10 Billion facility recently approved by the State House of Assembly for existing and new infrastructural projects in the State.

Governor Ahmed expressed confidence that with the release of this fund, all stalled projects in the state will be revived and that other funds will be released to other contractors in the state as they become available. He therefore thanked the contractors for their patience with the government and promised that with the new revenue drive, the issue of stalled projects will be a thing of the past.

A breakdown of the N3.2 Billion, according to the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu shows that the largest allocation of over N2 Billion went to the road sector. The next major allocation went to water projects with over N600 Million, while education received over N320 Million. Others include Energy with an allocation of N38 Million, Health with about N160 Million and the Justice sector with N18 Million.
