Kwara Wants Education Programme to Extend Beyond 2016
The Kwara State government has appealed to the ?Education Support Services Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN) to extend its work beyond 2016.
This is as the state government reiterated its resolve to improve on quality of education in both primary and secondary schools despite its "present precarious financial situation".
The state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Engineer Musa Yeketi, made the appeal in Ilorin yesterday while speaking at the "High level dissemination meeting on Kwara State composite survey", organised by the Education Support Services Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN).
He said the state government would continue to live up to expectations in the payment of counterpart funds for continuation of the educational development programme.
"The impacts of the educational organisation were felt in areas of funding, management, access and improving quality of basic education, as well as infrastructural improvements through provision of water, sanitation points, school furniture, classroom construction and construction of houses for rural teachers," Yeketi said. The commissioner while commending the ESSPIN for improving education standard and general well being of the Nigerian child, urged the management of the educational organisation to continue its work in the state.
