Kwara United still in relegation fight, says captain Jimoh
Kwara United not giving up on continental ticket
The Harmony Boys skipper believes his team will escape the drop to the lower division despite relegation staring at them owing to their defeat to Sunshine Stars
Kwara United captain Sheriff Jimoh says his side are still battling for their Nigeria Professional Football League survival.
The Ilorin based side were expected to stay clear off relegation zone on Saturday, but a horrendous second half ensured they bowed 2-1 at home to Sunshine Stars - a result which has left them looking nervously over their shoulders.
Their defeat to the Akure Gunners on Saturday ensured they dropped to 17th in the table, a point away from the relegation zone.
Consequently, Jimoh says beating the drop remains his primary concern at the moment. "We are not going to be relegated at the end of the season," said Jimoh.
"We are determined to maintain our status in the league and we will fight till the end. "We are doing better on the pitch than the result we are getting but we will figure it out.
"We want more from our fans, no matter what is happening on the pitch they must always get behind us. I believe in the ability of my teammates to deliver and we will do it for our fans.
"There is still 24 points left before the end of the season and we can do it," he concluded. Kwara United travel to Enugu for a date against 10th placed Enugu Rangers on September 27, 2015.
