Kano Fans Mob Kwara United's Gata Despite Defeat to Pillars

Majority of the Kano Pillar fans could not hide their admiration for Kwara United's young midfielder, Adeshina Gata following his command performance against their team in the midweek fixture of Match Day 27 of the Glo Premier League and they demonstrated their love with cash gifts offered the player.

Rabiu Ali had struck from a 30 yard free kick to give the host all the points at stake on Wednesday but the largely Kano Pillars' fans stood to applaud the youngster for most period of the game as he wrestled the midfield from the more experienced Ali and others.

As though cheering him was not sufficient, some of the fans followed the skilful young Gata out of the stadium gates seeking to physically congratulate him with a handshake and then verbally extol him in Hausa language, saying " you are very good".

ome of officials of Kwara United were not left out in the adulation of Gata, joining the Kano fans to also freely spray the player with wads of Naira notes while some promised to buy his dinner that night.

Some of Gata's senior playing mates described the youngster as the country's Lionel Messi.

Speaking on Gata's performance against Kano Pillars, Dare Ojo described him as one of the best midfielders in the country.

"He is the best among his peers, there is plenty ahead for him. He is skilful, strong and full of energy" Ojo said.

The captain of the team, Akeem Onigberi said Gata is always a delight to watch.

"When you watch Gata play, you will think football is not hard because he always makes things easy on the pitch"

"I feel he deserves a place in one of our national teams because he is such a talented player" Onigbari said.

Kwara United will next play Abia Warriors on Saturday in Ilorin in one of the match day 28 fixtures.
