Dolphins Lose 2-1 At Kwara United

Date: 2015-08-07

Dolphins lost again on the road despite taking an early lead against Kwara United in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Omoh Johnson opened scores in the 21st minute when he took out two defenders on the run and shot from distance, beating Kazeem Yekeen in goal for the home side. But before that goal, Dolphins seemed the better side.

In the 10th minute, home boy, Isiaka Olawale had his eyes on goal but his dipping shot missed target by inches.

Six minutes later, a quick interchange of passes between Omoh Johnson, Ayo Saka and Jonathan Zikiye saw the full back breach the offside trap of Kwara United. Zikiye faced the keeper with all the time in the world but blasted wide.

After the goal, Kwara United came back into the game with Bobga Sambo dominating the midfield. In one of those moments after 27 minutes, Sambo freed Abdulahi Ibrahim but the striker's shot was deflected for a corner.

At the start of the second half, Kwara United piled the heat on Dolphins and 4 minutes later Ayalogu parried a header from Ismaila Gata onto the path of Abdulai Ibrahim who scored the equalising goal.

But the icing on the cake was Kwara United's winning goal from Dare Ojo. From about forty yards, he caught Ayalogu a bit off his line and with power, hit a curling shot that went in off the upright. Dolphins' coach, Stanley Eguma took out injured Omoh Johnson for teenager, Daniel Victor and later made two changes- Chidiebere Okolie for Isiaka Olawale and then Abdramane Diarra for Ifeanyi Egwim but they were not enough to give Dolphins a result.

Stanley Eguma said after wards that he will go back and plan for future games. "Kwara is a good side. They got two in the second half and scored. "My players lost concentration in the second half and we paid dearly for it," he said.

Kwara United's coach, Tunde Sanni praised his boys for being able to come from a goal down to win against Dolphins.

"What made me happy is that I thought our team was not good enough, but after coming from a goal down to win this one, I am happy," Sani said. Dolphins return to Port Harcourt and will play against Abia Warriors on Sunday.
