Press Release: Atunwa Congratulates Saraki, Dogara
Atunwa who was the Speaker of the 7th Kwara Assembly praised the emergence of the newly elected leaders of National Assembly which he described as a peaceful and transparent process, prioritizing the nation's interests.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Olawale Rotimi, Atunwa said "the process that led to the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Rt. Hon. Dogara as Speaker of the House has further shown the world the strength of Nigeria's commitment to democratic principles, by respecting the provisions of the constitution and voting transparently, the lawmakers have confirmed their determination to serve Nigerians with their positions in the parliament.
Further speaking, Barr. Razak Atunwa described the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as a victory which is rooted in competence and consistent commitment to progress. "I congratulate our political leader on his well deserved victory as Senate President and Chairman of the 8th National Assembly. His victory is no surprise as Senator Bukola Saraki has an overwhelming record of competence and productivity in previous political positions held. His first term in the Senate was crowded with robust achievements in the Environment Committee and the floor of the Senate. I have no doubt he will perform excellently by ensuring transparency, accountability and unity in the Senate and National Assembly as a whole"
Also congratulating Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who defeated Hon Femi Gbajabiamila to emerge as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Atunwa called on members of the House to support Rt. Hon. Dogara in the discharge of his constitutional assignments for the progress of Nigeria. "Looking ahead, it is imperative that national attention and support and confidence given to the House of Representatives must not be betrayed, as lawmakers representing the interests of Nigerians, we must all support Rt. Hon. Dogara to ensure the House is most productive ever in history" he said.
