Police deny releasing suspected thugs in Kwara
The Kwara State police command has said that it is not responsible for the release of suspected thugs recently arrested by a joint security team.
The command said it had discharged its duty by arresting the suspects and charging them to court, but could not stop the court from granting them bail.
Police spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, spoke to Daily Trust yesterday against the backdrop of Monday's protest by some youths and market people at Oja Oba against the return of Area boys.
He said the police had done its job by arresting thugs terrorising members of the community and charging them to court but lacks the power to stop them from being granted bail.
