According to Professor Gana Yisa, three main political groups of CPC, ACN and PDP formed the APC, explaining that the CPC had taken the position of the president-elect, while the ACN had taken the position of the vice-president-elect, adding that the position of the senate president should be given to a member of the PDP, who is Senator Bukola Saraki.
Dr. Fatai Aremu, who said that Nigeria is at a critical political juncture and currently passing through a moment of change, added that a strong and credible National Assembly was needed by the incoming government to bring about a more prosperous nation.

And we have every right; be it moral and political to support him being a former two-term governor of the state, just as well as we know him by his deeds, performance and character. Beyond that emotional issues, we have gone academic in our support for his candidature as the best with qualification, quality, evidence and data for that position of Senate president", he said.
