Speaking at a forum of academic experts organised by the institution at Malete Friday, various lectures delivered said that consideration for emergence of senate president in the eighth National Assembly should go beyond geo-political zoning arrangement.
The lecturers also said that eighth National Assembly should be led by a man of good character that should be devoid of sectional sentiments and ideas.

According to Professor Gana Yisa, three main political groups of CPC, ACN and PDP formed the APC, explaining that the CPC had taken the position of the president-elect, while the ACN had taken the position of the vice-president-elect, adding that the position of the senate president should be given to a member of the PDP, who is Senator Bukola Saraki.
Dr. Fatai Aremu, who said that Nigeria is at a critical political juncture and currently passing through a moment of change, added that a strong and credible National Assembly was needed by the incoming government to bring about a more prosperous nation.
The vice-chancellor of the KWASU, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah, who was represented by Provost College of Humanities, Professor Saka Mahmood, declared endorsement of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate president by the university.
"Senator Saraki is our own. And we have every right; be it moral and political to support him being a former two-term governor of the state, just as well as we know him by his deeds, performance and character. Beyond that emotional issues, we have gone academic in our support for his candidature as the best with qualification, quality, evidence and data for that position of Senate president", he said.
