Two persons, Sukanmi Abayomi, 22 of No. 10, Oyun road, Mandate III and Uji Oliver, 30 of Kuta Guard, Emir’s road, both in Ilorin, Kwara state, who allegedly conspired and stole a power generating set have been arraigned before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate’s court.

The accused were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.
Trouble began for the accused on March 3, when the security men on duty at Mandate Estate, along New Yidi road, Ilorin, stopped Sukanmi (first accused) who was the driver in charge of a vehicle with registration number ABUJA CU 989 AB and demanded for the receipt of the Firman generating set found in his vehicle.

Meanwhile, Oliver (second accused), who claimed to be the owner of the generating set, allegedly left the scene with a promise that he was going to bring the receipt, but he never showed up again.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), after about 30 minutes the first accused too abandoned his vehicle and the generating set and ran away.
The FIR added that on April 7, the first accused gave up himself for questioning while his appearance led to the arrest of the second accused, who, confessed to have contracted the first accused to help him carry the stolen item to Taiwo raod, Ilorin.
