Press Release: Kwara PDP Sewing Fake Police Uniforms To Rig Elections - APC

Date: 2015-03-25

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has raised alarm that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is sewing fake Police uniforms and other uniforms associated with security agencies for its thugs in an attempt to rig and manipulate the forthcoming general elections.

The APC also said the PDP has packaged 1kg size of poisonous garri, branded with APC logo and photograph of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, in large quantity for distribution across the state.

In a statement issued in Ilorin on Wednesday by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party decried the desperation of the PDP while assuring the people of the state that the evil plans of the PDP will continue to fail.

"It is imperative to alert the good people of that the leadership of PDP, Kwara State chapter held a meeting on Wednesday where the party reviewed the activities of its rampaging thugs and other rigging plans ahead of the forthcoming elections.

"The thuggery activities of the PDP were reviewed against unfavourable security reports vis-a-vis dwindling electoral fortune of the PDP.

"At the meeting, amongst other decisions, the leadership of the PDP resolved to sew Police uniforms and uniforms associated with other security agencies for its thugs with the hope of deploying the uniformed thugs to manipulate the forthcoming election in favour of the PDP.

"Another set of armed thugs would also be dressed in black suits and traditional babariga attire, according to a credible source.

"The desperation of the drowning PDP knows no bound. This is a party with no manifestos, no ideology, no developmental plans for Kwarans except open show of desperation for power and affinity for violence and bloodshed.

"Political thugs sponsored by the PDP intend to impersonate officers of our security agencies before and during elections to harass APC leaders and members, to kidnap and pick up some of our party officials, to intimidate voters at the polling units and to manipulate the electoral process in favour of the PDP.

"We have raised this alarm with the hope that security agencies would promptly mount security measures to forestall the criminal plans of the PDP.

"Also, the leadership of PDP in Kwara State has packaged 1kg size of poisonous garri, branded with APC logo and photograph of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, in large quantity for distribution across the state.

"We warn the people of Kwara State against taking such gifts from the PDP because it is an attempt to kill as many Kwarans as possible and hang it on the APC.

"Kwarans should not be deceived by the logo of APC and photograph of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed that were printed on the packaged garri. Our party has no hand in it as it is purely the handiwork of the desperate PDP.

"We must state that the APC is not distributing packaged garri as souvenirs or gifts neither do the APC intend to distribute packaged garri before or during the forthcoming election.

"There is no clearer indication that the PDP is a party of vampires and murderers than the desperation of the PDP to kill Kwarans with poisonous garri and put the blame on the APC in order to gain public sympathy.

"Meanwhile, we assure the people of Kwara State that our party will continue to expose the evil plans of the PDP. Wherever, whatever and whenever the PDP holds meeting to unleash violence and poisonous substances on Kwarans, we shall continue to keep Kwarans informed.", the statement read.
