Unilorin: Faculty of Agric Wins Inter-Faculty Quiz Competition

The faculty of Agriculture has won the 2012 inter-faculty quiz competition of the University of Ilorin.

The director of academic planning Professor Misbau Akanji in his welcome address said it took a long time before to this stage of the competition while appreciating the institution for bringing the ideas of the quiz competition describing it as a test and a way to improve the knowledge of the student.

Professor Akanji enjoined all students of the institution to participate in competitions of this nature as it prepares them for bigger competitions anywhere.

Earlier, the Dean student affairs Professor Sunday Umoh said the human brain is programmed to store more than four billion programmes and can work for nine- hundred and sixty- nine (969) years depending on the way we store what we learn.

He said the programme will help develop the students intellect and prepare them for future challenges.

The Dean of Student affairs who later presented the contestant award congratulated them for job well done while wishing them best of luck.

While giving is closing remarks Professor Umoh said some people felt disappointed because they were unable to answer the question the contestant answered.

Professor Umoh stated that he has also benefited a lot from the competition and learnt new things

Twelve faculties participated in the quiz competition at the initial stage but were reduced to three at the final stage.

The three faculties are sciences, agriculture, and clinical science.

During the first round, the three faculties progressed to the second round with five hundred {500} points each, before the faculty of clinical science was dropped.

The faculty of Agriculture defeated the faculty of science in the first round with seventy {70} points to faculty of Agriculture and thirty-five{35}points to the faculty of science.

The faculty of Agriculture defeated the faculty of science in the second round with faculty of science fifty {50} points and faculty of Agriculture one hundred and sixteen {116}points.

The faculty of Agriculture won the quiz competition by defeating faculty of science, with the faculty of Agriculture having two hundred and five {205} points and faculty of science having one hundred and sixty-five {165}points.

In a chart with some of the winners they expressed their joy by thanking the university authority while assuring that they will continue to represent the University.
