ACPN Presidential Candidate Promises to Stop Fuel Importation
The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) presidential candidate for the March 28 election, Alhaji Ganiyu Galadima, has said if elected into office, the party will take steps to end the country's dependence on imported petroleum products.
The party formed by the late doyen of Kwara State politics, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, at the weekend came alive in the state, when it organised a mass rally where candidates vying for various positions were presented before the electorate.
Addressing party supporters, Galadima said if voted into power, he would give priority attention to job creation for the youths by reviving the agriculture and the moribund private sector.
He said one of the first measures his administration would undertake is deregulation of the petroleum and power sectors to bring on board genuine private sector investors who would be encouraged to establish local refineries to end import of petroleum products.
"I will stop importation of fuel and establish refineries in all the states of the federation. I will ensure that all the states of the federation generate independent power that will attract more investors and create jobs for the people," he said.
According to the ACPN presidential candidate, the party will as part measures to stem the power supply crisis in the country implement an initiative whereby every state government will be expected to build a power station capable of meeting the electricity supply needs of its people.
The rally, which held at a school ground in Erin-Ile, in Oyun Local Government Area of the state, also had in attendance, the part's gubernatorial candidate, National Assembly hopefuls, state House of Assembly candidates and other party bigwigs.
In his remarks, the party's gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Abraham Omotosho, said unlike other parties, ACPN is on ground and ready to go to the grassroots and seek for the support of the people.
"I urge you people to massively vote for all the candidates of ACPN at all levels," he urged them.
Earlier in the day, a prayer session was held at the palace of Magaji Ilorin, Alhaji Dauda Fagba, where special prayers by top Islamic clerics were offered for the presidential candidate as well as for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
