How PDP will win Kwara - Yinka Aluko
Running mate to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Yinka Aluko, has said that the disenchantment of the people of the state with the present government would aid the victory of the party at the forthcoming poll.
Aluko who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin at the weekend, He said the people were disenchanted with the government controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) because it failed to meet their expectations on their welfare and the development of the state. The politician, a former security adviser to both the immediate past governor, Bukola Saraki, and the incumbent governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the PDP is ready to provide the change the people are yearning for. Saraki and Ahmed were formerly in the PDP, until they left the party for the APC, with Ahmed maintaining his office as the governor and seeking re-election on the platform of the APC.
Aluko who did not join them in the defection to APC said that the PDP has resolved to “take back our stolen mandate.” He described PDP as more democratic than the APC, saying in the PDP there is no imposition of candidates but a level playing ground for all who seek to contest for offices.
He said the combination of the party’s governorship candidate, Simeon Ajibola, and him, a younger person, as the deputy governor would aid proper planning and implementation required for transformation of the state. He commended preparations of the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the general elections and urged the commission to ensure that the elections are free, fair and credible.
