Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) is planning to build a N50 million secretariat in Lagos to cater for the welfare of all indigenes of Ilorin Emirate residing in South Western parts of Nigeria.

Raheem Adeshina Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer, Western Zone of IEDPU, in a statement said the launch of the building fund will also be used as an opportunity to appreciate and give award to Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatai Ahmed, and distinguished sons and daughters of the emirate for their meaningful contributions to the development of the emirate and the state in general.

According to Ibrahim, the launching which is expected to take place at Glover Memorial Hall, Customs Street, off Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE, Lagos, will be graced by eminent and distinguished sons and daughters of the emirate.

Among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion, apart from the Governor who will be the special guest of honour at the occasion, is former state Governor and now a Senator, Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

He is to receive award of excellence and will also be the chief launcher on the occasion.

Also, Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, is expected to be the royal father of the day at the occasion, while Alhaji Umoru Saro, a business tycoon, is to be the father of the day. Vice President, Commonwealth Association of Architects, responsible for Africa and Chairman, National Building Code Advisory Committee in Nigeria, Muhammed Jamiu Faworaja, is to be chairman of the occasion.
