Government urged to restore normalcy in North East

The Senator Representing Kwara central senatorial district, Senator Bukola Saraki has called on the federal government to do everything possible to restore normalcy in the North eastern part of the country.

Senator Saraki made the call in Ilorin while fielding questions from newsmen. He urged the federal government to stabilise the polity for INEC to do its job on the conduct of a free and fair election in 2015.

Senator Saraki stressed the need for every part of the country to rise against ethnic differences come next year's presidential election.

He said his recent victory at the Supreme Court was an affirmation of the people's choice in his political career.

Senator Saraki who is the immediate past Governor of Kwara state and Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, commended the judiciary for upholding the people's verdict, adding that the case was baseless.

On the recent declaration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for a second term in office, he thanked the people of the state and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the honour done to the party, saying that the attendance attested to the acceptability of people to the present administration.

He expressed the hope that the APC would win a landslide victory in next year's general election in the state.

Senator Saraki assured Nigerians that whoever emerges from all the APC Presidential aspirants at the Presidential primaries would be supported stating that all issues raised by the APC against the Goodluck Jonathan administration were issue based which would be addressed when APC is voted into power.

He assured all aspirants in the forthcoming primaries of the APC in the state of a level playing ground, adding that they would be carried along in the choice of acceptable candidates.

Unity and tolerance

Meanshile, the Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has called for unity and tolerance among different ethnic nationalities in Nigeria to achieve the development the country needs.

Governor Ahmed made the call while receiving the executive members of a socio-cultural group, "Egbe Omo Ibile Igbomina", at the government house, Ilorin.

He said all ethnic groups must strengthen their effort in building bridges across ethnic nationalities for the unity of the country.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Lagos state branch of the group, Alhaji AbdulRasheed Afolayan highlighted various achievements of Kwara state government and pledged the support of the group to his effort of transforming the state.

Alhaji Afolayan also sought the support of governor Ahmed for the creation of more Local Council Development Areas in Igbomina land, for accelerated development of the community.
