Governor Saraki's Christmas Message

Date: 2010-12-24

Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki has charged Christians to reflect the virtues and teachings of Jesus Christ in their lives so that Nigeria and indeed the world could be a better place to live.

He also enjoined them to promote peace, love and unity and exhibit the spirit of tolerance in the accomplishment of our vision of building a new Nigeria.

Dr Saraki, who made the charge in his Christmas message to the people of the State, urged Nigerians to always portray the positive sides of the country and de-emphasize her negative sides.

He, therefore, admonished Christians in the country to emulate Jesus Christ in words and deeds and imbibe the core lessons of love, tolerance, sacrifice, generosity and peaceful co-existence which Christ stood for.

Dr Saraki praised Christian religious leaders in the State for conducting themselves peacefully in their religious activities and for joining government in promoting religious harmony in the State.

While congratulating the entire Christians for witnessing yet another Christmas season, he advised them to use the festive period for sober reflection and total spiritual devotion towards living in peace and harmony with adherents of other faiths.

He urged the Christian community not to relent in their prayers for a smooth transition especially as the nation’s general election was fast approaching.

Dr Saraki also expressed deep appreciation to the entire Kwarans for doing him proud during the celebration of his 48th birthday anniversary, describing the impressive turn out of people at the event as a practical demonstration of their love and support for his administration in the past seven and half years.

He assured the people of the State that he would use the remaining few months in office to intensify the pursuit of more people-oriented policies and programmes that have direct bearing on their lives.

The Governor expressed hope and assurance that the coming year 2011 would usher in more progress, prosperity and fulfilment for all.

He wished all Christians in the State Merry Christmas and the entire citizens a prosperous New Year in advance.
