Police deploy 7000 officers for eid el-kabir in kwara
The Police Command in Kwara on Thursday said it had concluded arrangements to deploy 7,000 officers to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in the state.
The command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin.
Okasanmi said the command would activate all operational sections, including Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD), the intelligence Unit as well make do of its dogs to sniff around for any dangerous object.
He said that the command had also mapped out strategies and mount troops around areas believed to be prone to violence across the state.
The command spokesman urged residents and those that would be coming into the state to be conscious of their environment because of the prevalence of security situation in the country.
Okasanmi assured of the command's readiness to police the state to ensure a happy Sallah, and called on all and sundry not to indulge in anything that could disrupt existing peace in the state.
He described the Sallah period as a period of sober reflection, and called on the residents to call on the police in case of any emergency or distress. The spokesman urged Nigerians to be their brother's keeper, and use the Sallah period to pray for the country.
He also urged them to provide the police with useful information to reduce crime to the barest minimum.
