Kwara State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has ahead of the 2015 election, raised alarm over the paucity of funds to prosecute the election.

State chairman of the party Chief Iyiola Oyedepo said the party requires adequate funds to give a sitting government a run for its money.

He voiced out the concern during a meeting with members of Integration Committee for the North Central zone headed by former PDP national chairman, Dr. Haliru Bello.

The committee which has other members like former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, Senator Emma Anosike, Alhaji Yakubu Shehu, among others, was on a fact finding mission on the strength of PDP in Kwara State.

The chairman disclosed that the party would soon replicate the fundraising ceremony it had in Abuja few months ago in the state as part of overcoming the financial constraints.

He said the executive committee of the party met only N18, 000 in the party's treasury, while the defected members went with the party structures, such as vehicles and offices.

"In normal times expenses of a party that is active could be up to N500, 000 everyday...our problems are compounded by the fact that we do not have a governor to fund the party and we need to face a sitting governor that has all the paraphernalia of office", he added.

Oyedepo also intimated the visiting team about the crisis in Ilorin West Local Government chapter of the party where he said three groups are laying claim to the party structures in the area.
