Kwara 2015: Kwara APC Youths Back Gov Ahmed for Second Term

Date: 2014-09-02

The Kwara South Youths of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which comprises seven local government areas of the senatorial district, Monday expressed support for the second term ambition of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, for continuity and equity.

The seven of the 16 local government areas in the state are Offa, Oyun, Irepodun, Isin, Oke-Ero, Isin and Ekiti.

Coordinator of the youths' wing, Mr. Sunkanmi Ereoye, spoke at a briefing in Ajase-Ipo against the backdrop of the youths' alleged violent disruption of the elders meeting last week.

According to the coordinator, "as youth leaders and one of the most important groups in our political system, we were surprised at our exclusion from the Elders Forum Consultations with stakeholders.

"Ten of us went to the venue of the meeting. On getting there, however, we could not agree on the mode of participation at the meeting since all of us could not participate in the meeting.

"The resulting disagreement led to an unfortunate fracas among us which has sadly been misrepresented as an attack on the APC leaders. That is far from the truth.

"As youths who also pray to grow up and become elders, we will not attack our elders for any reason. If we have any disagreement with the party structure and leadership, we have non violent ways of conveying our grievances internally."
