KWSG reinforces combat against HIV/AIDs

As part of efforts to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDs in Kwara State, the government has procured Hematology and Chemistry analyzer machines for some hospitals in the state.

In a message to the presentation ceremony, the state Deputy Governor and Chairman, Action Committee on AIDs in the state, Elder Peter Kisira said the machines were procured to assist Doctors in making accurate diagnosis of clinical condition of patients and monitoring their responses.

Elder Kisira who was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alhaji Rafiu Ayinla said the present administration had demonstrated commitment to reducing the prevalence HIV/AIDs from 4:3 in 2011 to 2:2 in 2010 among women attending Anti-natal clinic.

He charged communities benefitting from the new equipment to patronize the hospitals as they stand to gain tremendously.

Receiving the machines on behalf of the State Ministry of Health, the Director, Pharmaceutical Services in the Ministry, Alhaja Risikat Bolanle Lawal expressed gratitude to the state government for the provision of the health facilities.

She said that the machines will go a long way in reducing infant and maternal mortality rate in the state.

Earlier, in his remarks, the Project Manager, KWASACA, Doctor John Oyeniyi commended the concern shown by the State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed on health and development programmes in the state.

The CD4, Chemistry Analyzer and Hematology machines are expected to be distributed to General Hospitals in Ilorin and the local government areas.
