OPINION: Nigeria In Dire Need Of A Selfless Leader, ABS Is The Answer. By Mas'ud Adebimpe Auko

Date: 2014-07-17

Our country Nigeria is no doubt going through a critical period in her political history as an independent Nation which was borne out of ineptitude of our leadership.

Nigeria's present leadership has demonstrated gross incompetence and systemic failure in all fronts of service delivery.

Today the present administration could not boast of a sector where it has successfully delivered rather it has been a story of woes.

Interestingly the Jonathan presidency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration can only lay claim to providing jobs to unemployed young men and women through Sure-P programme, a scheme designed after fuel subsidy scam was blown off by a patriotic Nigerian Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

The resources saved from the drain-pipe called fuel subsidy after Saraki's historic revelation had remain the main sources of funding for all what Jonathan administration now hold on to as achievements.

The revelation made to Nigerians that the subsidy was a scam and it must be stop and used for Nigerians benefits almost cost the selfless leader his life

Similarly , the environmental degradation particularly in the Niger Delta areas where our brothers and sisters become victims of environmental pollution and oil spillage, it was the same ABS as Chairman Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology that had call and presented a bill in the National Assembly, the PIB, that would protect these innocent Nigerians who should be in affluence and not in penury and deprivation arising from the nonchalant attitude of the multi-nationals in the region and the care free attitude of successful administration towards the well being of the citizens of the region.

ABS' security ingenuity remain a potent tool in resolving security challenges. As s former governor in Kwara State in 2003 he was the first to come up with the idea of amnesty for the then formidable political thugs structure of a former Chief Executive in the State known as GBOSA BOYS. This dreaded body was successfully checkmated , disarmed and rehabilitated through various Schemes put in place.

Today they had not only become useful to themselves but they were equally making useful contributions to the larger society.

The amnesty policy which was the brain child of ABS was suggested to the late President Umar Musa Ya'Ardua Administration and it became the master stroke to resolve the age long Niger Delta Crisis and today the people of the region and indeed the country by extension can attest to the success of Yar'adua's Amnesty.

The ABS commercial agricultural policy was legendary. As at today the policy has not only become the transformational platform in the agricultural sector of the present administration rather the policy was wholly adopted and been Implemented by the Federal government.

The birth of Kwara Football Academy(KFA) mid-wifed by ABS administration had also contributed Immensely to Sports Development in the country, those young talents discovered from this Academy are today across the globe doing wonderfully well in what they know how to do best.

This Architect of Modern Kwara and a worthy Senator of the Federal Republic representing Kwara Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly represents the future hope of our country and somebody like him should, for the interest of our dear country, take a shot at the Presidency of this great country and safe Nigerians and Nigeria from the imminent and glaring catastrophe threatening our Nationhood.

The Nigeria Need Positive Change Group, (NNPCG) a non govermental and a public commentator group, strongly believe in his ability and with the records of his. unprecedented achievements and transformation ABS brought to State of Harmony, Kwara State, as well as his performances so far at NASS are enough evidence of his ability to lead this country out of the wood.

Today the crop of leaders saddled with the responsibility of providing leaserships had shown Incompetence , cluelessness and ineptitude which make the future of our dear country look bleak.

The progressive minds across the country should plead with this symbol of generational change , a performer per excellence to please come forward to lead our country to the next level and rescue our Country from the hands of these broad day robbers who are hell bent in milking our country to her grave.

Alh. Mas'ud Adebimpe Auko is the National Co-ordinator, The Nigeria Need Positive Change Group (NNPCG).
