Ministerial slot: Kwara PDP to submit list to Jonathan next month
Since last March when Bolaji Abdullahi was relieved of his position as the Minister of Sports, moves have been intensified among different factions of the state PDP over who succeeds the former minister.
At a meeting presided over by the pioneer chairman of the PDP in Kwara State, Barrister Kunle Sulyman to address party excos of Ilorin West Local Government over the last ward chairmen election, members were told to bury the hatchet that had arose from previous elections in the state and forged a common front towards the next convention.
National Pilot learnt that the decision to delay the list till after convention was borne out of the resolve to unite all the feuding factions in the party and approach coming elections with a united front.
While responding to questions from members at the end of the meeting, Sulyman reminded party faithful that what the leadership had at its last meeting held with party elders, resolved to unite the various factions towards emerging victorious at the polls.
“It is important that we approach the forthcoming elections with a united house. Those that are aggrieved after the convention can then be rallied to see the need why it is important to produce a candidate to avoid the issue that had plagued the party all these while,” he said.
Speaking to National Pilot after the meeting, a top source who craved anonymity told our reporter that the submission of the ministerial list has been suspended till after the convention.
“This is to guard against further polarisation of the party because if the issue is brought up now, it may generate unnecessary wrangling again, which is not what the party needs for now.
“I can assure you that the issue as regards the ministerial list will be after the convention and we are also expecting the drama that will unfold during the selection of candidates for the PDP ministerial slot. As of now the president is doing his consultation to determine whom to choose among Gbemi Saraki, who is being supported by the present party national chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and the candidate billionaire business mogul, Muinat Shagaya in the person of Yinka Aluko. But all the issue had been left to be decided after the party convention”, the source added.
