We'll Return PDP To Power In Kwara -Oyedepo
The new Chairman of the PDP in Kwara, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo, has vowed to return the party to power in the state next year.
Oyedepo spoke in Ilorin on Thursday after the swearing in of the new PDP executive members by the immediate past Caretaker Chairman, Mr Solomon Edojah.
"PDP will regain its stolen mandate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in all elections through free, fair and credible templates," he said.
Oyedepo said his mission as PDP leader in the state was to reconstruct the party and capture power back to the party in the state.
The chairman said he would pursue this mission through massive sensitisation of the citizenry.
"I will sensitise the people about their right to good governance. I will involve our farmers, artisans, youths, civil servants and women in the struggle to reclaim the state," he said.
He assured all party members that his leadership would be inclusive while all those who were aggrieved as a result of the primary would be carried along.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inauguration of the 29-man executive members marked the end of the Edojah-led caretaker leadership of the party in the state.
The committee was constituted by the National Working Committee of the party with the mandate of putting in place a formidable structure for the party in the state.
Earlier, Edojah had thanked members of the party for the support he received in the last three months.
He urged the new executive council to resist all forms of temptation that could jeopardise its opportunity of delivering the state to the party in next year's general elections.
Edojah also appealed to the executives to always put the interest of the party above other considerations, pointing out that "the days of godfather politics was gone for good in Kwara PDP."
He commended President Goodluck Jonathan, the party' National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, as well as other leaders for ensuring transparency and equity in the party. (NAN)
