Nothing will make me return to PDP - Sakari
Former Kwara State governor and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Bukola Saraki, has declared that nothing will make him and his followers return to the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The former governor while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State capital on Saturday, stated that the Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mau’zu, would be welcomed during his visit to the state, because Mua’zu is his personal friend.
He stated that the PDP had every chance to reconcile all its aggrieved members but it failed to do so.
He said, “It is expected that as the new chairman, he (Adamu Muazu) will go round. I do not know what his plans are. I cannot speak for him. Certain events that occurred have overtaken some matters. The time when we talked about going back has come and gone. I cannot see what will make me to go back because we are moving ahead in the right direction.
“I have made a comment on that and I have said we are moving on. We are forming a party (APC) and we are mobilising for the party registration, which is coming up in February.
“Of course, the new PDP chairman is welcome in the state. He is my personal friend. We are not going to stop him from coming to the state. The issue is not personal. If you want to survive in this game (politics), you cannot just take decisions based on your own interest. Politics is about the people. We went round and talked to the people and we decided. Let us talk of how we are going to move on and how we are going to stay in our party.”
He said it was not about a better deal with the PDP and that the merger between the PDP defectors and APC had already been consummated.
“It is not about any deal. We are now building a new party. We are going for registration and we are going to mobilise. Let the chairman of PDP settle down and do his work. Let us start our own life,” Saraki said.
