CAR returnees transported to states of origin - NEMA
Nigerians evacuated from the Central African Republic (CAR) toa Hajj transit camp in Abuja have been moved home by their various state governments.
Buses were sent to the camps to convey the returnees to their states after clearance by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the security agencies who documented the returnees on state-by-state basis.
A NEMA official, Mallam Idris Abubakar, who spoke to Daily Trust, said the operation which began two days ago with indigenes of Abia state ended yesterday Kebbi whose indigenes were seen leaving the camp in a bus.
He said the returnees are from 26 namely Kwara, Adamawa, Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Benue, Sokoto, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Plateau and Imo.
Others are; Kano, Enugu, Gombe, Katsina, Jigawa, Borno, Ogun, Nassarawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Yobe, Rivers Kebbi and Ebonyi and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Central African Republic has been marred by sectarian violence which has resulted in uncontrollable violence and struggle for power by the contending militias.
