Army promotes 3 officers at NDA

Date: 2013-11-24

The Nigerian Army has promoted three officers serving at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel.

Commandant of the Academy, Major General Chukwuemeka Owuamaegbu during the ceremony advised the officers to start planning for their disengagement from the Nigerian Army so that they will not regret on their retirement.

Those promoted include Colonel Bisiriyu Olayanju from Offa, Kwara state who was selected as a member of 28 Short Service Combatant Course in 1987 and was later commissioned into Infantry Corps as Second Lieutenant in 1987, Mohammed Idris Abdulkadir, an indigene of Niger state and a member of the 42nd regular course who is currently the Academy Adjutant and Colonel Hilary Maduekwe who holds a master's degree in International Relations and Diplomacy.

Onwuamaegbu said the promotion is a result of the officers' diligence, hard work, dedication and loyalty in the past five years.

"Remember that with this promotion comes additional responsibilities and more commitment, more loyalty, we must all be loyal to the system and we must all pay back what the government has spent in bringing us up to where we are today,"  he said.
