Stop blackmailing Jonathan, Awoyale warns Obasanjo
He also warned the ex-President to desist from blackmailing President Goodluck Jonathan by making statements capable of truncating Nigeria's nascent democracy which is still at its infant stage stressing that "Nigerian deserves an apology from Chief Obasanjo for failing us for eight years."
The Igbomina Chieftain who is also a member of Peoples Democratic Party in a statement issued in Ilorin, yesterday noted that President Goodluck Jonathan has surpassed his predecessors in the areas of infrastructural development among others and he therefore deserves commendation.
According to him, "It is indeed saddening to note that despite his wide experience as a former military head of state and eight years civilan President, Chief Obasanjo could not proffer a workable solution to the lingering problem of insurgency bedeviling the nation.
"Instead, the ex-President has been found on several occasions engaged in careless acts that can cost us the much cherished democratic processes which he has enjoyed in the past without any intimidation from individuals or groups."
Among other sins of Chief Obasanjo, the Igbomina chieftain said included unhealthy romance with the opposition party in an attempt to discredit President Goodluck Jonathan.
He however expressed his dismay over the horrible condition in which Chief Obasanjo left Nigerian roads such Lagos-Ibadan, Jebba-Mokwa, Benin-Ore express roads among others with no apology to the numerous lives and properties wasted on the said roads while so many other infrastructure are in a state of disrepair at the expense of the masses.
Chief Awoyale also berated Chief Obasanjo for making assiduous attempt to destabilize the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) not minding his status as elder statesman and founding member of the party in an attempt to score cheap political points in the face of frivolous campaign of calumny by the members of All Progressive Congress (APC).
While warning Chief Obasanjo to borrow a leaf from the virtues of late President Nelson Mandela, Chief Awoyale urged Nigerians to disregard all the uncharitable utterances of the ex-President and remain resolute and committed to President Jonathan in his bid to salvage Nigeria from the current political trash.
He therefore advised the leadership of the National Assembly especially the Federal House of Representatives to conduct themselves in a much respected manner and be committed to the cause that will further transform the lives of Nigerians irrespective of their political affiliations.
