Kwara South Group appeals to Bolaji Abdullahi to Join Governorship Race

Date: 2014-09-28

A political group, ABS Bolaji Abdullahi Kwara South Movement has appealed to the former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi to join the governorship race under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference held in Oro, Irepodun Local Government  Area of Kwara State, the coordinator of the group, Comrade Oyerinde Kayode Sanje said the sterling leadership quality of ex-minister makes him qualify for the seat.

He said the performance of Mallam Abdullahi when he was serving at the state and national levels brightens his chance of winning the governorship seat in the state.

He said ex-minister had distinguished himself when he served as Commissioner for Education in the state.

“Education received the highest boast in the following areas: teachers attitude to teaching was improved through intermittent refresher courses; review of qualification of both primary and secondary schools’ teachers; granting opportunity to teachers to improve their certificates; adequate monitoring of schools and head teachers as well as special packages as incentive for rural teachers among others”, he said.

Sanje added the commitment and dedication of Mallam Abdullahi to education reform gave him opportunity to be nominated as the minister for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to him “History need not to be told in the vision of this man when he assumed office as Minister of Sports, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi recorded the highest gold medals as a minister of sports and crown it up with 2013 AFCON cup of nation with Super Eagle winning the tournament.

“When the wind of change started in PDP, many believe Omoluabi will follow the non-transformation government because of power, wealth, influence and authority associated with the federal minister but to peoples’ surprise, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi, a core Muslim who believes in Allah and understands the principle of leadership and followership chose to follow his leader rather than to bite the finger that fed him”.

While appealing to the people of Emirate and Kwara South to join the call, he said Abdullahi’s loyalty, dedication and commitment to youth development confirms that he has leadership quality.

“We the people of Ibolo, Igbomina and Ekiti/Oke-Ero of Kwara South are proud of you and we are ready to vote for you en masse if given the opportunity by our party leader APC for 2015 governorship of Kwara State.

“We remain committed and loyal to membership of ABS family and we are waiting for our leader, Senator Bukola Saraki to declear for Presidency of Nigeria come 2015, such that our dear nation can change and have her right position in the committee of nations”, Sanje said.
