Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road crucial to residents' socio-economic life
Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, has stated that Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road is crucial to the socio-economic life of residents in the areas and the nation as well.
According to him, its timely completion would improve the socio-economic activities of the people of the areas and also increase commercial transactions along the route
Speaking while inspecting ongoing work on the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road, Wada noted that the people of the area and motorists had faced hardship, assuring that such agony currently being borne by the people would be a thing of the past when the road was completed.
Represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, he explained that the state government had been giving much attention to the road since the commencement of construction, given its importance in business activities of the area
He commended President Goodluck Jonathan for awarding the road, and his commitment to early completion, imploring the residents to take special interest in the safety of personnel and equipment of the construction company
The governor expressed joy at the sand filling work done on the road by the contractor, which had made it passable, charging the contractor to speed up the temporary sand filling of the failed portion.
The Field Manager of the construction company, Mr Chenlang explained that following state government’s directive, efforts had been made to sand fill the failed portion of the road as a palliative measure to ease the movement of the motorists
He assured that efforts would be intensified to meet up the deadline for the completion of the project, adding that serious work would start by September when the rains would have subsidised
He said that based on the company’s work plan, 20 kilomtre of the road from Kabba, would be completed before the end of the year
