Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road crucial to residents' socio-economic life

Date: 2014-08-04

Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, has stated that Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road is crucial to the socio-economic life of  residents in the areas and the nation as well.

According to him, its timely completion would  improve the socio-economic activities of the people of the areas and also increase commercial transactions  along the route

Speaking while  inspecting  ongoing work on the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road, Wada noted that  the people of the area and motorists had faced hardship, assuring that such agony currently being borne by the people would be a thing of the past when the road was completed.

Represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi,  he explained that the state government  had been giving much attention to  the road  since the commencement of construction, given its importance in business activities of  the area

He commended President Goodluck Jonathan for awarding the road, and his  commitment to early completion, imploring the residents  to take special interest in the safety of personnel and equipment of the construction company

The governor expressed joy at the sand filling work done on the road by the contractor, which  had made it passable,   charging  the contractor to speed up the temporary sand filling of the failed portion.

The Field Manager of the construction company,  Mr Chenlang explained that following state government’s directive, efforts had  been made to sand fill the failed portion of the road as a palliative measure to ease the movement of the motorists

He  assured that efforts would  be intensified to meet up the deadline for the completion of the project, adding that serious  work would start by September when the rains would have subsidised

He said that  based on the company’s work plan, 20 kilomtre of the road from Kabba, would be completed  before the end of the year
