National Conference: Cleric condemns composition of participants.

Date: 2014-03-30

An Ilorin based Islamic Scholar, Ustadh Abdulwahab Onipe has called for re-composition of participants at the ongoing National Conference to reflect ratio 50:50 of the Muslims and Christians at the conference, if the government is serious about making the best out of the exercise.

Onipe made the observation in his Friday Sermon at Nawar-L-Deen Society of Nigeria, opposite Ilorin Grammar School (IGS), Ilorin the Kwara State capital, pointing  out that the  figure of the participants does not portray the country as having regards for principle of equity as far as Christianity and Islamic religions are concerned.

Imam Onipe expressed displeasure over the number of members saying that it is uncalled for that Muslims represent 38 per cent while Christians 62 per cent, lamented that the gap will bring about one party being shortchanged when matters affecting religion are being discussed.

The cleric called on government to as a matter of priority have a rethink over the issue and address the glaring inequality that exists so as to come up with ideas that will give birth to egalitarian Nigerian society.

Onipe however admonished those who engage in using human parts for rituals  to desist from the act saying that wrath of God awaits he who specializes in using human parts for any purpose.

He admonished Muslims to do away from any act that is against the law of the land and that of the creator, adding that great reward awaits those who submit themselves totally to the will of Allah.
