The Kwara State Land Charge Amendment Bill 2013 has sailed through second reading on the floor of the Kwara State House of Assembly.

The motion for the second reading of the bill was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu AbdulKareem. The bill, which is an executive bill from Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, enjoyed the support of majority of the members.

The Majority Leader in his submission during a debate on the bill said the bill will take care of land payment defaulters in different parts of the state, adding that the bill would enable the state to depend less on monthly federal allocation.

Mallam Suleiman Sunaboro representing IIesha-Gwanara Constituency while making his contribution said the amendment was not controversial since it will boost the revenue of the state.

The Clerk of the House, Mr. Oyetunde Oyeniyi, later read the bill for the second time, while the Speaker, Hon. Rasak Atunwa, directed the House Committee on Lands and Housing to further work on the bill.

Atunwa similarly directed the Business and Rules Committee of the House to monitor progress on the bill.
