Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commended members of the Committee on Religious Matters in the state for fostering religious harmony in the state.

Governor Ahmed gave the commendation yesterday during an interview with the press after a meeting with the committee members in his office at Government House, Ilorin.

According to him, the committee is a standing committee that has been very helpful to the society in terms of creating and promoting religious harmony in Kwara State.

"The committee is not ad-hoc, it is a standing committee that creates a major balancing in most of the potential areas where we would have had religious problems. They have been able to allow issues to be pursued peacefully and allow for dialogue and peaceful existence among our people."

"We are all aware of the current peaceful environment, which we live in today in Kwara, the governor added.

He urged the committee not to relent in its activities so that it can continue to play the role of promoting religious harmony in the state.

Also speaking with newsmen, the committee chairman Alhaji Muhammed Sha’aba Koro, said the committee was made up of people with vast experience, adding that members have been up to the task since the establishment of the committee in 2004.

Koro who was the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) thanked the government for giving the committee support and assistance as at when due.
