Remain dedicated, Dabarako tasks workers

Date: 2013-06-22

Civil servants in Kwara State and Nigerian as a whole have been cautioned to desist from politics and remain loyal and dedicated to duty.

The state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed sounded the warning yesterday in an interview with The Herald in his office.

He said he shared the joy of the 2013 civil week celebration taking place at the Federal level with civil servants, congratulating them for turning-in yet another year.

Explaining that the state version of the week which used to take place on 23rd of June each year has now been shifted to July, the HoS urged workers to look forward to it.
According to him, government had in past six years embarked on training and re-training of its staff for optimum productivity and accountability, charging them to allow the skills acquired to tell on their performance.

Dabarako who is also chairman of the State Flood Relief Rehabilitation Committee said on the instruction of the state governor, his them had gone round the flood-prone areas and advised the people to re-location to flood-free plains in good time.

He noted that Patigi, Edu, Moro, Kaiama and Ilorin South Council areas were the worst hit by last year’s flooding with Patigi and Edu bring more severe because of their location at lower Rivers Niger and Kaduna excess water from the three dams, Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro.

The Chairman appealed to take preventive measures than try to mend damages, clarifying that it was not feasible for even the Federal Government for flood victims not to talk of state government owing to limited resources at their disposal.
