KWARTMA arrests 2,476 traffic offenders in Kwara
No fewer than 2,476 erring road users have been arrested and fined by the Kwara Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA)across the state between January and May.
Mr Abdulraheem Mustapha, the Assistant General Manager (Operations) of the agency, said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.
Mustapha said that 2,072 commercial motorcyclists and 404 motorists constituted the highest number of traffic violators in the state.
He noted that most of the road users did not understand road signs and symbols, urging members of the public to purchase and study the Highway Code.
He appealed to road users to always respect traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents, noting that everybody was allowed to use the road, even beggars, the blind and the crippled.
