Ahmed Condole Jonathan, AIG

Date: 2012-03-17

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, on behalf of Government and people of the State has commiserated with the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Acting Inspector General of Police, officers and men of the force on the death of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations, Mr. John Haruna and some other officers in an helicopter crash in Jos, Plateau State.

The Governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji AbdulWahab Oba and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, described the incident as unfortunate and a national tragedy, especially now that the Nigerian Police is being reformed and all hands are required to be on deck.

Ahmed added that the crash has also denied Nigeria the opportunity of benefiting from the administrative acumen of the deceased police officers at a time Nigeria is in the quest for an enduring peace and stability.

The governor who noted that DIG Haruna and others died in active service, prayed God to grant their families, the police and the nation the fortitude to bear the loss.

He however wants Nigerians to use the solemn moment occasioned by the incidence to work for peace and harmony in the country.
