The 16 Local Governments in Kwara state have been charged to register teams for the Kwara 5-a-side Street Soccer, as the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Isa Adamu Bawa unveils his team for the competition.
The Commissioner, who recalled that he was a footballer and product of the youth sport federation of Nigeria [YSFON] hinted  that he was propelled by the policy thrust of the present administration in the State, that lay premium on youth engagement.
Alhaji Bawa, who named the team as Tasude Football Club,  explained that the name commemorate the contributing of the immediate past Emir of Kaiama, Late Alhaji Mohammed Tukur Tasude II, to honour his developmental drive in the Local Government during his life time.
According to him, the role of sports could not be under-estimated in national development and building.
He asserted that sports was now a big business in the world and noted that it was imperative to scout for talents at the grassroots.
Earlier, the Special Assistant on Sports to Governor Abdulfathah Ahmed, Alhaji Toyin Olokooba said the programme was for talent hunt, discovery at the grassroots and appealed to the Ministry to prevail on the Local Government Chairmen in the State to sponsor teams as directed by the State Government, stressing that some Council bosses are not co-operating with the organizers of the tournament.
In his remark, the Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Mahmud Dantsoho announced that he would register three teams for the event.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji A.S Musa commended the State Government for the development of sports in the State and the Honourable Commissioner for his contribution to grassroots Sports development.
