Kwara commissioner blames global warming for collapsed bridges
Kanike said on Friday that the bridges that were constructed several years ago were not designed to accommodate large volumes of water.
" Global warming has changed the trend of climatic events and this accounted for heavy rainfalls in Nigeria.
"Some of the bridges do not have sufficient drainage facility to take care of huge volumes of water and that is why we are having cases of bridge collapse," he said.
Kanike, however, assured motorists and pedestrians that the state government would fix all damaged bridges to ameliorate their sufferings.
