KWSG Commends NUJ over Dividend Tour
The Kwara State Government has lauded the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the state council, for its projects assessment tour to various government projects, just as it described the exercise as a step in the right direction.
The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Tunji Morounfoye, gave the commendation at the weekend during the press briefing to usher in the second year anniversary of Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed in office, held at Government House, Ilorin.
Morounfoye, who moderated the briefing, particularly commended the members of the fourth estate of the realm for identifying with government policies and programmes in the area of adequate and balance report of government activities.
According to the commissioner, the ‘Kwara NUJ Dividend of Democracy Tour’ was a clear indication of the NUJ’s complementary roles to the progress and advancement of the state.
He said the tour will not only showcase the government developmental projects across the state but also give the public the conviction about the plethora of human and infrastructural development projects of Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed-led administration in the state.
While expressing satisfaction over the existing cordial relationship between the government and members of the pen profession in the state, Morounfoye affirmed that such robust synergy would further foster peace, progress, and enhance rapid socio-economic development in the state.
The NUJ had on 13th of May this year commenced the visitation to some government projects across the three senatorial districts in the state under the scheme ‘Kwara NUJ Dividend of Democracy Tour’.
Among the projects inspected included the road project at Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area, road project at Ijomu-Oro in Ifelodun Local Government Area, some township roads in Ilorin Metropolis, on-going rehabilitation of Offa and Ilorin General Hospitals, Kwara State School of Nursing Oke-Ode, on-going construction of students’ of Engineering Complex at KWASU Malete, Kwara State children reception center along pipe-line road and Children rehabilitation center Amoyo, Women Vocational Center at FSP building along Sola Saraki road, former Fate road among others.
