Kwara Expends N11billion on Road Projects in Two Years
Kwara State Government at the weekend disclosed that it had spent over N11billion on road construction and rehabilitation in different parts of the state in the last two years.
Besides, the state government revealed that the sum of N1.6billion had been committed to the provision of water in the year under review, which it said, had meaningful impact on the people of the state.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Isiaka Gold made the disclosure at a press conference to herald the anniversary of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed's administration in the state in Ilorin.
He explained that the money spent on the roads covered the completion of some of the roads inherited from the immediate past administration and the new ones embarked on during the present administration in the state." He said the roads rehabilitation and construction cut across the three senatorial district areas of the state, adding that the development of the roads"have opened economic opportunities for the people of the state as farm produce can now be transported to the doorsteps of the people without any hindrance.
Gold further explained that the road rehabilitation and construction had covered over 800km areas of the state, which he said, had indeed improved the socio-economic well being of the residents of the state.
He stated that the present administration had also excelled in other sectors like education, health, poverty alleviation and youths employment among others, saying the achievements are visible in virtually all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Gold explained that the administration was planning to generate 100 megawatts electricity supply to support industrialisation through the Independent Power Project, establishment of four mega schools to bring the standard of education in secondary schools in line with global standards".
He therefore said the weeklong programme commenced with this press conference would be rounded up next Saturday with dinner while Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed would hand over some projects that had been completed
