Opinion: It's an Impostor situation in Kwara State

Date: 2013-05-03

The recent turn of events in my state is a clear indication that 2015 is going to be war. The thieves are getting stronger day after day, recruiting a band of intellectual individuals to do their dirty biddings. I wonder what it took those bright individuals to sell out on every ethics of right and wrong they had growing up with their parents or those they gathered from those glorious school day teachings. These recruits make me feel like I am the sick one, I wonder if we've all lost it when a sane learned person tries to justify why I should listen to someone who has done nothing but stole billions and is still doing so.

I can't but just pause to think daily to see if we haven't all gone mad. How can we really be cool with what is going on around us? How can we be okay with the terrible state of our schools; the broken down educational system we still enjoy calling one, the bad despicable state of our healthcare centres, the death trap roads we call road network system, the dilapidated structures we see around and even live in that we call houses, the kaput water delivery system we call water cooperation, the highly condemnable nepotistic way of rulership our elected politicians indulge as a way of running our political offices; You are either on their sides to enjoy the dividends of governance or you are ignored. Are we all gone mad letting this go on and on?

In a state of many God given natural resources and vast land mass, majority of Kwarans live in penury. It is an accepted culture by our supposed well-read ruling elites to let our companies go into extinction. Companies that could generate revenue for the state as well as put food on the table of Kwarans fold up under the supervision of these clueless self acclaimed visionaries allowing raw natural resources to lie in a waste while a lot of Kwarans go/remain jobless. I should not blame the government for every of our woes, but I am blaming the government for many of our problems all the same. A government that would let the source of livelihood of thousands of its indigenes go into extinction is not a fit one. A government that would think once in 12years is as a matter of fact a fraud from inception, you think of projects to execute once and you go into a continuity scheme without thinking of new projects to empower your people, improve their standard of living as well as alleviate their poverty.

Really, what wise government assumes office without agendas of its own? What wise government assumes office without assessing the performance of its predecessor? What wise government agrees to every clause of its predecessor without its own opinion? What wise government would not do its homework and see how it could make its state a self sustainable one; one that doesn't wait on allocation to make its people proud? What wise government allows its appointed officials run government ministries like their personal companies? What wise government would romanticize with an entourage of over 35 delegates to shift the government house to London to meet with investors, shop for business partners in the US all on the state's small allocation you complain is not enough? What wise government in the midst of little that is barely enough to go round the people it swore to tend to; would build mansions in the cost of billions for an evil thieving leader? What wise government would agree to finance an ex-governor, his family and staffs for the rest of his life? What government would wait on a political leader to do the needful in its state?

I could go on and on but why waste our time telling you what you already know; it's an impostor situation in Kwara State. It's only an impostor government that would do this, a caretaker government, a government which oversees the affairs of the one whom installs it. Even a working government gets criticized; the more reason we should crucify this sleeping one. A government that would instead of listening to its people recruit people to silence criticism is a lame one, an evil one filled with impunity, nepotism, and tyranny.

I have no appeal to Governor Ahmed for a change in governance style and I wont complain to him about any issue, if he is not wise and smart enough to have a dedicated listening committee with an effective feedback system on all pertinent issues affecting Kwarans; then you can only start to imagine what a jokefactory Kwara State government is. I have already ruled out the no 1 thief in the state, I can't be bothered what any one says, the man ruled us for 8years with no meaningful development in any sector but a little in the agriculture. Yet, you call him a visionary and a leader! Isn't it worth loathing that the man sold his only achievement (Shonga Holding), yet this impostor government celebrates it/him all the time without telling the world Shoga Farms is not even a Kwara owned property anymore. You can't have 15% ownership of something and claim the glory for its successes; do you live in perpetual delusion? Kwara State is in debt high to its neck yet this government can't cut Bukola Saraki and his outrageous private jets' lifestyle off Kwara State allocation.

2015 is just by the corner, we are all wiser than this government and its installer no doubt, so, it's going to be a shocker when we demand an implementable manifesto from parties and make them come defend it. If parties want they should waste their monies in distributing bribe materials and money so people could vote for them; people will take your supposed gifts and monies and still vote for change. EnoughIsEnough Kwarans; it's time to stand up for our rights, time to send Bukola Saraki and his association of briefcase/agbada thieves out of kwara state.

When the government neglects its people for too long; Change/an uprising is inevitable! The time is now Kwarans, we can no longer give our bloods for free for an undeserving ingrate like Bukola Saraki. I am no politician, so don't brand me opposition; I solicit good governance.
