Fire Renders 15 Persons Homeless in Ilorin

Date: 2013-04-26

Fire engulfed an eight-room bungalow along Opomalu Road in IIorin, rendering 15 occupants homeless in the early hours of Thursday, an official said.

The Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services to the Governor, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, made this known after inspecting the damage caused by the inferno.

He said the occupants of the building were unable to salvage any of their belongings.

According to him, the cause of the fire, which lasted for more than four hours, has not been established.

Abdullahi expressed sympathy to the victims over the incident, pledging that the state government would provide them with immediate succour.

Some of the victims appealed to the government to come to their aid as they do not have anywhere to put their heads.

Some of the items damaged by the fire included household utensils, clothing materials, furniture, and electrical gadgets.
