Kwara PDP Dissolves 16 LG Caucuses, Begins Reorganisation Ahead of 2027
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has dissolved its caucuses across the 16 local government areas as part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a closed-door meeting involving members of the State Executive Committee (SEC), other party stakeholders and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is the party's leader in the state.
In a statement, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, said the dissolution marked the beginning of a comprehensive reorganisation of the party's structures across the state.
He said the party had commenced preparations for the 2027 elections and considered it necessary to refresh its structures, introduce new members, broaden participation and build a more effective and inclusive political machinery capable of delivering electoral victory at all levels.
Adewára added that the decision was within the powers of the State Executive Committee to take steps aimed at strengthening, repositioning and reorganising the party in the overall interest of its members and electoral fortunes.
The party appreciated members of the outgoing caucuses for their dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and contributions to the growth of the PDP in Kwara State.
"We sincerely appreciate all members of the outgoing caucuses for their dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and contributions to the growth and development of PDP in Kwara State. We wish them well in their future political endeavours and remain confident that they will continue to contribute their wealth of experience to the collective success of our great party as we move towards 2027," the statement said.
The party urged members to remain calm, united and committed, saying mechanisms for the recruitment, constitution and inauguration of new caucuses across the state were already being put in place.
