Kwara CP Commissions Renovated C Division Police Station, Charges Officers on Professionalism
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, has commissioned the renovated 'C' Division Police Station in Oja-Oba, Ilorin, urging officers serving at the division to uphold professionalism and improve service delivery in line with the upgraded facility.
The Kwara State Police Command, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the renovation was carried out to provide a more functional and conducive environment for effective policing.
The inauguration was attended by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Prof. Usman Abubakar, alongside senior police officers, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Adekimi described the renovation as a testament to the importance of collaboration between the police and the public in strengthening security infrastructure across the state.
He commended the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Saliu Kayode, as well as residents and other supporters whose contributions made the project possible, noting that community participation remains vital to effective policing and sustaining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The police commissioner charged officers attached to the division to justify the investment through professionalism, discipline, responsiveness and respect for the rights of citizens.
"Officers and men of this division must reciprocate the improved working environment through greater professionalism, discipline, responsiveness and respect for the fundamental rights of citizens, ensuring that the improved facility translates into better policing outcomes and service delivery," Adekimi said.
In his remarks, the Divisional Police Officer, DSP Saliu Kayode, appreciated the commissioner for the confidence reposed in him and acknowledged the support of residents throughout the renovation process.
"I appreciate the Commissioner of Police for the confidence reposed in me and the unwavering support and cooperation of the community towards the successful execution of this project," he said.
The event also featured the presentation of Police Ambassador Awards to individuals recognised for their contributions to community policing and support for the Nigeria Police Force in Kwara State.
The recipients included the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Shelter Setters Aluminium, Dr Hassan Ibrahim Sanni; Most Special Apostle Oluwole Awotunyi of Tuyil Pharmaceutical Limited; Proprietor of Neemar Raheem International School, Alhaji Haheem Alubarika Olohunkemi Arademi; Chairman of Solid Worth Hotel and Suites, Otunba Taofeeq Abefe Azeez Bello; Alhaji Abdulwahab Adetayo Hassan; and the Divisional Police Officer of 'C' Division, DSP Saliu Abdulganiyu Kayode.
Adekimi reaffirmed the command's commitment to advancing the operational vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, particularly in promoting professionalism, community partnership and improved public confidence in policing across Kwara State.
