Belgore Flays FG's Anti-Graft War
Governorship candidate for the Action Congress of Nigeria in the 2011 election in Kwara State, Mr. Dele Belgore, has accused the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration of lack of commitment to the anti-graft war.
In an interview with our correspondent in Ilorin on Tuesday, Belgore said Nigeria was losing the anti-graft war because the Federal Government had not been focused and committed in its fight against corruption.
He argued that for the anti-graft war to be meaningful, there must be clear direction and good leadership from top political office holders.
“I do not believe that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration is committed to curbing corruption. If it is, the first place is all around the President. He does not even need the ordinary Nigerian to be telling him anything. He does not need any adviser. It is all around him and he can see it. If he starts from there, then that will demonstrate commitment,” Belgore said.
He added that corruption was the biggest hinderance to development in Nigeria and called for attitudinal change by the citizens.
He stressed the need for all stakeholders to be active in the fight against corruption, adding that many Nigerians were not committed to get rid of corruption in the country.
Belgore also urged the government to exhibit sufficient will to fight corruption.
