KW-HMB Introduces Scheduled Result Pick-Up to Ease Congestion at Ajikobi Cottage Hospital
The management of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB) conducted a routine monitoring and supervision visit to Cottage Hospital Ajikobi, led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery.
The team assessed clinical services, administrative processes, and facility operations, with the major focus of the visit centred on promoting good customer service and the demonstration of empathy in patient care. Staff were engaged to reinforce the importance of respectful communication, responsiveness, and professionalism in all patient interactions.
Dr. Malik commended the staff for their commitment but emphasised the need for continuous improvement in these key areas. "Healthcare is not only about treatment; it is also about how we make our patients feel. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and empathy at all times," he stated.
As part of immediate improvements, a pilot initiative was introduced in the laboratory to establish a daily scheduled pick-up time for test results. This is aimed at reducing long waiting hours, easing congestion, and improving patient experience.
Going forward, patients submitting non-emergency laboratory samples will be assigned a specific time for result collection. This will eliminate the need for prolonged waiting, allowing them to attend to other activities and return at the designated pick-up time.
Kwara-HMB reaffirmed its commitment to continuous supervision and monitoring to ensure efficient, patient-centred healthcare services across all state hospitals.
