The Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran sports journalist and respected analyst, Niyi Oyeleke.

In a condolence statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Ismail Ayodeji, and the Assistant Secretary, Sodiq Adebara, the association described Oyeleke's death as a painful loss to the sports fraternity, the journalism profession, and the wider media community in Kwara State and Nigeria.

Kwara SWAN noted that the late Oyeleke, who hailed from Offa in Kwara State, was a consummate professional widely admired for his deep knowledge of sports, engaging analysis, and unwavering dedication to sports broadcasting.

The association recalled that Oyeleke served as a sports producer with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he distinguished himself through quality production, insightful commentary, and a calm, disciplined disposition that earned him the respect of colleagues, athletes, administrators, and viewers across the country.

According to the statement, Oyeleke was also a committed member of SWAN who contributed significantly to the development of sports journalism, mentoring younger colleagues and setting high standards of professionalism within the industry.

"Late Niyi Oyeleke was a beacon of professionalism humble, diligent, and passionate about the growth of sports. His voice, wisdom, and presence will be greatly missed, not only by the Association but by the entire sports community," the statement read.

The association prayed that Almighty God grants the deceased eternal rest, forgives his shortcomings, and comforts his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult period.
