APC Group in Kwara Raises Alarm Over Alleged NIN Misuse
A pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has raised concerns over the alleged misuse of National Identity Numbers (NINs) during a recent membership registration exercise.
The group's coordinator, Abdulganiyu Omowaye, in a statement issued on Saturday, called on party authorities to investigate complaints from members regarding the manner in which personal data were obtained and utilised.
Omowaye disclosed that the group had received reports from individuals who claimed their NINs may have been used for party registration without their prior consent, after initially providing the information for unrelated purposes.
He urged the party leadership to verify the allegations and ensure that all registration procedures comply with applicable legal and ethical standards.
According to him, addressing the matter transparently would help protect members' confidence and safeguard vulnerable groups such as pensioners and students.
The group also appealed to the APC leadership in the state to review membership figures from the affected area and strengthen oversight mechanisms to guarantee credibility and accountability in the registration process.
Omowaye stressed the importance of due process, noting that a prompt clarification of the situation would help sustain trust in the party's internal operations.
